Tom Cruise recently paid an emotional tribute to Val Kilmer at CinemaCon 2025, held at the Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. The two actors had reunited for the 2022 hit Top Gun: Maverick.
Cruise, who starred as Captain Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell alongside Kilmer’s Tom ‘Iceman’ Kazansky in the iconic 1986 film, spoke fondly of his late co-star, who passed away earlier this week at the age of 65.
“I wish you well on the next journey,” Cruise said. “I’d like to honor a dear friend of mine, Val Kilmer. I can’t tell you how much I admire his work and how grateful and honored I was when he joined Top Gun and later returned for Top Gun: Maverick.”
He continued, “It would be really nice if we could have a moment together because he loved movies and gave so much to all of us. Let’s take a moment to remember the wonderful times we shared with him.”
