In an interview with fellow actor Emma Labista on the ‘Nollywood Hardcore’ podcast, legendary Nollywood actor Hanks Anuku opened up about some of the challenges he faced within the industry, revealing that some of his colleagues resorted to blackmail due to jealousy.
Anuku, known for his captivating roles in Nollywood films, disclosed that certain individuals in the industry were not only envious of his success but were also involved in diabolical practices. Reflecting on his experiences and relationships with other actors, he explained, “Some people were diabolical, some were envious and jealous of my shine then. I was blackmailed.” He added, “In life, we must always keep space for falling down and standing up again. There was a bit of diabolism in the industry.”
Hanks Anuku, who rose to fame in the 1990s, is one of Nollywood’s most iconic figures. His career, which began with his debut in films like “Glamour Girls”, saw him become a go-to actor for playing tough, commanding roles. Anuku’s ability to portray complex characters has earned him a lasting place in Nollywood history, despite the challenges and controversies he has faced throughout his career.
