Two hundred and sixteen students of the Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State were on Friday bagged First Class Honours degrees during the 16th graduation ceremony of the 19-year-old faith-based institution.
A total of 1,681 graduates of the university comprising 1,400 and 281 in the graduate and postgraduate levels were presented with awards of first and higher degrees during the 2021 academic session.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Humphrey Adebayo, in his address lauded the Chancellor, Bishop David Oyedeo for his vision and God’s guidance that had taken the institution to greater heights within Nigeria and in the global arena as a world-class institution.
The VC gave a breakdown of other categories of awards as follows; 719 representing 51.4% in the Second Class Upper, 435 Second Class Lower and 30 in the Third Class degrees.
He disclosed that 72 graduates were awarded Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees, representing about 30.19% increase against the number produced by the university in 2020.
Besides, he announced that the university also produced 109 others in the Masters, MBA and MPA programmes for the 2021 academic session.
