The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has launched a probe into alleged child abuse at a daycare facility in Lagos.
The agency’s Director-General, Binta Adamu Bello, ordered an immediate investigation following renewed public outrage over social media posts reportedly connected to Nigerian singer Simisola Kosoko, widely known as Simi.
In a statement posted on X on Friday, NAPTIP said it acted in response to mounting concerns about troubling allegations circulating online, which have been associated with the singer.
According to the statement, Bello directed the agency’s operatives to begin a comprehensive investigation into claims of child molestation and abuse in a Lagos daycare centre, as suggested by the viral online post attributed to the popular Nigerian artist.
