Senate Rejects Electronic Transmission of Election Results

The 2027 general elections is drawing closer and there has been a lot of bavk and forth on electoral policies. This time around the senate chamber has rejected electronic transmission of results.

In a proposal before the house, the Nigerian Senate has rejected the amendment to Clause 60, Subsection 3, of the Electoral Amendment Bill.

The bill seek to prioritize the electronic transmission of election results. If approved the proposal would make it compulsory for presiding officers of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to upload election results to the IREV portal in real time, immediately after completing Form EC&A.

The proposal also that the Form EC&A must be signed and stamped by the presiding officer and countersigned by party agents.
