E247mag reports: Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Sunday hosted Julius Malema, the outspoken President of South Africa’s Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), during a courtesy visit at the Lagos House in Marina. The meeting, which drew attention from political watchers across the continent, underscored a growing spirit of Pan-African engagement between Nigeria and South Africa.

Announcing the visit via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, Sanwo-Olu wrote: “Today, I received Mr. Julius Malema, President of South Africa’s Economic Freedom Fighters, on a courtesy visit at Lagos House, Marina.” The Governor did not disclose details of their private discussions, but the encounter has already sparked conversations about political solidarity and cultural exchange between two of Africa’s biggest economies.

Julius Malema, 44, is a well-known firebrand politician in South Africa, celebrated by supporters for his bold calls for land reform, economic redistribution, and youth empowerment. As leader of the EFF, he has built a reputation for fearlessly confronting established systems, making him one of the most talked-about political figures on the continent. His visit to Lagos is being seen by analysts as symbolic, given Nigeria’s historical role in Pan-African politics and activism.

For Governor Sanwo-Olu, who has consistently positioned Lagos as Africa’s leading hub for commerce, culture, and diplomacy, the visit further reinforces the state’s international outlook.
