The fight against Governor Fubara isn’t ending soon. This is so as Rivers State House of Assembly have commenced impeachment process against him.

The impeachment proceedings commenced on Thursday and might lead to the impeachment of Mr Fubara from office.
This is coming months after he was restored as the Governor of Rivers State, following six months suspension by President Tinubu.
There is a long-standing feud between Governor Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike. This resulted in the suspension of Mr Fubara and the Rivers State House of Assembly in March 2025.
Nyesom Wike who is currently serving as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory has many loyalists among members of the Rivers State House of Assembly. Also there are members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the parliamentary house.
It is also surprising that a week before Governor Fubara’ impeachment proceeding began, he decamped from PDP to APC. This has generated mixed reactions online as many citizens see this as a political propaganda.
