A recent investigation has linked Herbert Wigwe, the late Group CEO of Access Holdings Plc, to ownership of 106 properties in London.

The findings were published by The Londoner in a report titled “Revealed: The Billionaires Who Really Own London,” which uncovers hidden overseas ownership behind roughly 32,000 properties across the city. The investigation was made possible by new legal requirements compelling foreign companies to disclose their true owners.

According to the report, many of London’s high-value properties—about 2,224—are registered to firms based in St Helier, Jersey, a location often associated with offshore financial activity. Wigwe was ranked seventh among individuals linked to such holdings, behind names like John Corless, Sarah Bard, and Simon Reuben.

Wigwe died on February 9, 2024, in a helicopter crash near the Nevada border in California, alongside his wife, son, and former NGX Group chairman Abimbola Ogunbanjo. The National Transportation Safety Board later attributed the crash to the pilot’s decision to fly under visual rules in poor weather conditions.

Since his death, disputes have reportedly arisen over his estate. In February 2025, members of his family, including his father and cousin, filed an appeal challenging a Lagos High Court ruling related to the distribution of his assets.
