Prof. Zainab Duke Abiola, a Legal practitioner and human rights activist, has been arrested by the Nigerian Police over allegation bordering on assault of a female Police Officer, Inspector Teju Moses.
CASEFILE gathered that the Mbaise born activist on Wednesday grievously assaulted Inspector Teju Moses, her orderly, on Tuesday 20th September, 2022 at her residence in Garki, Abuja.
She was said to have refused to breach professional ethics by carrying out menial and domestic chores at her house.
This according to sources irked her to the point she alledgedly assaulted her in the company of her domestic staff comprising the house maid, one Rebecca Enechido and a male suspect.
The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba has strongly condemned the mIstreatment of the police woman.
The police boss on Wednesday ordered the prosecution of suspects already arrested in connection with the assault, they are currently in Police custody.
Police Spokesperson CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi has said that preliminary investigation shows there is overwhelming evidence of culpability on the part of the Professor and her domestic staff. He added that the IGP has equally tasked the investigative team to ensure that the arrest of a fleeing suspect to face the wrath of the law.
He also cleared the air about Zainab Duke Abiola having any relationship with the Police boss and his family.
He noted that the prime suspect, Zainab merely name-dropped the IG’s name.
The Police said she has no acquaintance with the security agency in any form as erroneously peddled on social media, neither with the IGP, his family members, nor with other officers in the top hierarchy of the Force.
The Inspector-General has ordered the withdrawal of all Police personnel attached to the Professor, even as he expressed consternation at the fact that an individual who claims to be an advocate for Human Rights could stoop so low to violate the rights of another individual, a police officer tasked with ensuring her protection.
