The Jigawa State Police Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Dahiru Muhammad, psc, fdc, has recorded operational successes in its sustained efforts to combat crime and ensure public safety across the state.
On 15/02/2026 at about 2100hrs, acting on credible intelligence, a patrol team attached to Hadejia ‘A’ Division intercepted a dark green Golf 3 station wagon with Reg. No. GWL 569 XA at Jama’are Gate along Hadejia/Kano Road driven by one Adamu Sani Ya’u 29yrs of Dibantu Quarters, with one Musa Abdullahi 35yrs of Hayin Yankaba Quarters, Kano State, as occupant. The vehicle is strongly suspected to have been used in conveying stolen livestock within Hadejia town. During inspection, animal defecation and hairs were discovered in the vehicle. Other recovered exhibits include a rope, dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, a Rizler, a blanket, and an additional number plate bearing ABJ 270 AJ. Preliminary investigation indicates that the suspects have connections with the cattle rustlers terrorizing the Hadejia Emirate. Investigation is ongoing at the State Criminal Investigation Department Dutse (SCID) to arrest their accomplices and prosecute them accordingly.
In another development, on 18/02/2026 at about 2300hrs, unknown criminals blocked the road at Katarika Village, Taura LGA, assaulted one Kalilu Abubakar 35yrs of Kafin Kanya Fulani Settlement, and robbed him of his motorcycle. A team of policemen attached to the Taura Division and a vigilante group rushed to the scene. The cyclist was taken to the hospital for treatment. Intelligence-led policing led to the recovery of the stolen motorcycle. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
Similarly, on 24/02/2026, detectives from Birnin Kudu Division arrested three suspected motorcycle thieves: (1)Jamilu Yahuza 30yrs of Kawo Village, (2) Bello Sabo 30yrs of Tudun Fulani Village, and (3) Umar Garba 50yrs of Anchua Village, Makarfi LGA of Kaduna State, identified as a receiver. During the investigation, a Bajaj motorcycle belonging to Sa’idu Safiyanu Mamman was recovered in their possession. The case will be transferred to State Criminal Investigation Department Dutse for discreet investigation and diligent prosecution.
Also, on 24/02/2026 at about 0234hrs, policemen on foot patrol at GRA Quarters, Hadejia LGA, sighted an unidentified person pushing an unregistered motorcycle. Upon approach, the suspect abandoned the motorcycle and fled. The exhibit has been recovered and secured at the station, while efforts to trace the suspect are ongoing.
Furthermore, on 25/12/2026 at about 0540hrs, three bulls valued at N2,000,000 belonging to Bello Sani Kurma of Gauraki Sabuwa Village were reported stolen. Following a tip-off, detectives from the Sundimina Division trailed the suspect and recovered one bull. The suspect identified as Mamman Haro ‘m’ age 30yrs of Chilin Fitori village, Birniwa LGA. On investigation, the suspect was also being wanted by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Dutse for a case of culpable homicide that occurred in Chilin Fitori village, Birniwa LGA. The case is under investigation.
Lastly, the Command, in its unrelenting efforts to rid the state of drugs by raiding all criminal hideouts, seized no fewer than one thousand five hundred sixty-eight (1,568) pieces of illicit drugs from the suspected drug dealers. Among the suspects arrested are: Bashir Namadi (AKA Sarki Mai Laberia) ‘m’ age 48yrs, Shehu Sani ‘m’ age 23yrs of Kanti Qtrs, Kazaure LGA, Usman Kabiru ‘m’ age 22yrs of Na’ibawa Qtrs, Tarauni LGA of Kano state, Yusuf Adamu ‘m’ age 50yrs of Tawakkal village, B/Kudu LGA, Muhammad Muhammad ‘m’ age 28yrs of Kofar Fada, Gumel LGA, Abubakar Abdullahi ‘m’ age 18yrs of Tsallake Qtrs, Babura LGA, Abubakar Lawan ‘m’ age 27yrs of Kofar Arewa, Babura LGA.
