Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has applauded the Muslim community in the state for their unwavering support for his administration and their commitment to peaceful coexistence with people of other faiths.

Speaking during an Iftar gathering he hosted for Muslim leaders from all 16 local government areas at the Government House in Ado Ekiti, the governor emphasized that unity among residents remains a critical foundation for meaningful development in the state.

Oyebanji noted that the consistent backing from the Muslim community has significantly contributed to the progress recorded by his government. He urged them to sustain their support, not just for his administration, but also for Bola Ahmed Tinubu, whom he credited for supporting key developmental efforts in Ekiti.

The governor specifically highlighted the proposed Itawure–Aramoko–Ado Ekiti road project, revealing that it had received provisional approval and that contractors are expected to begin work shortly after Ramadan. According to him, the project will boost economic activities and improve connectivity across the state.

He also commended Muslim appointees in his administration for their performance, noting that their contributions have been instrumental to governance. Oyebanji added that he would consider appointing more Muslims into key positions if given another term in office.

Delivering a lecture at the event, Sheikh Abdullahi Abdulmutali of Ansar-Ud-Deen in Ado Ekiti encouraged Muslims to remain steadfast in righteousness and uphold the fear of God in their daily lives.

Similarly, Sheikh Jamiu Kewulere Bello, President-General of the League of Imams and Alfas across the South West, Edo, and Delta states, offered prayers for the governor, the state, and the nation, while commending both Oyebanji and President Tinubu for fostering peace and inclusiveness.

The event was attended by notable figures, including former Senator Babafemi Ojudu, members of the State House of Assembly, the Executive Council, and representatives of Muslim communities across Ekiti.
