Acclaimed Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Kunle Afolayan on Sunday had the premiere of his much-anticipated, Yoruba epic, Anikulapo, powered by Netflix in partnership with Golden Effects’ KAP Motion Pictures.
The star-studded movie premiere starring Hakeem Kae Kazim, the Ikorodu Boiz was indeed a successful event.
The premiere saw members of the cast as well as favourite movie stars and veterans in the industry mingling at the premiere, many including critics would agree the premiere remain a benchmark in Nollywood’s premiere. Movie stars turned up in traditional and creative, ethnic outfits to celebrate the movie shot in KAP Film Village Resort, Igbojaye in Komu and environs in Oyo State.
Anikulapo, a movie inspired by world famous Ifa priest and author, Yemi Elebuibon tells the story of Saro, (Kunle Remi) an itinerant cloth weaver who arrived a village with the power of resurrection and he became a huge success raising many dead people and was reputed as one who has the power of death in his pouch.
The producer and director, Kunle Afolayan was regal in his hand woven voluminous three-piece aso-oke agbada with cap to match.
Star actress, Bimbo Ademoye made a grand entry in her immaculate white gown and a veil that caught the eye of all guests.
Top Nollywood stars like Adebayo Salami, Dele Odule, Sola Sobowale, Kunle Remi, Taiwo Hassan, Ronke Oshodi-Oke, Aisha Lawal, Mr. Macaroni, Aderemi Adedeji, Adewale Adeoye and others who featured in the project were all gorgeously dressed on the red carpet of the premiere.
Spotted too were star actor, Femi Adebayo and his beautiful wife, Omotayo, Odunlade Adekola, Bisola Ayeola
Notably in attendance was Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi, the 21st Elegushi of Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom who came along with the Akinsiku of Lagos, Chief Adebola Dosunmu.
Elegushi gave the vote of thanks at the movie premiere attended by veteran actors and industry giants such as ace cinematographer, Tunde Kelani, Joke Jacobs, Femi Odugbemi and the mother of the movie producer, his daughter, Oyeyemi, who featured in the movie and his son, Diekola.
In attendance too were Yeni Anikulapo-Kuti, Toyin Aimakhu and husband, Kolawole Ajeyemi, Sharon Ooja, Uzee Usman and others.
The premiere that got guests glued to their seats at Imax Cinema, Lekki, Lagos rolled into an all-night long after party. Anikulapo,the story of power, resurrection, romance would be released in cinemas and on Netflix September 30.
