Kaduna State is already witnessing early political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections, as Mubarak Ahmad-Gumi signals a generational push for greater youth participation in governance.

The young politician, son of Islamic cleric Ahmad Gumi, has formally declared his intention to seek a seat in the Kaduna State House of Assembly under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He aims to represent the Doka/Gabasawa constituency.

Rather than centring his announcement on family legacy, Ahmad-Gumi framed his ambition around youth inclusion, data-driven governance, and practical representation. He described Nigeria as standing at a “generational crossroads,” arguing that leadership must reflect both the wisdom of older generations and the innovation of younger Nigerians.

Currently serving as a legislative aide to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, Ahmad-Gumi said his experience in federal legislative processes has prepared him for the demands of lawmaking at the state level.

He maintained that the growing youth population in Nigeria presents an opportunity rather than a challenge, stressing that young people possess the digital skills and entrepreneurial mindset needed for modern governance. According to him, real change requires moving beyond online commentary to direct political engagement.

Ahmad-Gumi also underscored accountability and accessibility as cornerstones of his campaign, promising consistent engagement with constituents and transparent representation.

Academically, he holds a degree in Management Information Systems with a minor in Public Administration from the University of Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates. He is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Data Analysis and Statistics at the Nigerian Defence Academy in Kaduna.

As 2027 approaches, his declaration adds to the growing number of younger aspirants seeking elective positions in Kaduna, reflecting broader national conversations about leadership renewal and inclusive politics.
