BREAKING: Lagos Police Arrest Most Wanted Notorious Killer ‘Olori Eso’, Recover Arms Cache and Stolen Passports

READ MORE:

In a major breakthrough in its crackdown on violent crimes, the Lagos State Police Command has announced the arrest of the state’s most wanted and notorious hired assassin, Wasiu Akinwande, popularly known as Olori Eso.

The 44-year-old suspect, described by law enforcement as a “vicious serial killer and cult kingpin,” was apprehended in a coordinated tactical operation codenamed “Silence, Speed, and Surprise” by the Command’s Tactical Squad. He was captured in a hideout in the Agbado area of neighboring Ogun State following multiple failed attempts.

Akinwande, who has reportedly led a reign of terror across Mushin and surrounding communities since 2009, is believed to be the mastermind behind numerous high-profile murders, armed robberies, kidnappings, and cult-related killings that have claimed scores of lives and destabilized neighborhoods in Lagos.

Recovery of Weapons and Stolen Documents

Following his arrest, police operatives raided his Mushin residence, uncovering a large cache of sophisticated weapons and incriminating materials used in his operations. Items recovered include:

2 AK-47 rifles

1 K2 assault rifle

1 Red Ryder rifle

3 pump-action shotguns

2 locally made single-barrel pistols

5 magazines

57 live cartridges

70 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition

27 rounds of 9mm ammunition

1 expended 5.56mm ammunition

1 dagger

3 walkie-talkies

9 international passports belonging to different individuals

Police authorities say the items were freely admitted by Akinwande to be tools of his operations with various killer gangs under his command.

Victims Begin to Speak Out

Already, four families have reportedly come forward to identify Akinwande as the man responsible for the killing of their children and loved ones. His long history of evading justice across state lines has made him one of the most elusive and dangerous criminals in recent memory.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, has ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to lead a high-level investigative team to deepen inquiries and track down all accomplices still at large.

Police Reassure Residents

In a statement, CP Jimoh praised the bravery of the officers involved in the high-risk operation and assured Lagosians that their safety remains a top priority. He reiterated the Command’s commitment to flushing out criminal elements from the state and making Lagos unsafe for all who seek to disrupt public peace.

“This arrest is a critical step in restoring peace and confidence to the people of Mushin and other affected areas. We will not rest until every member of this criminal network is brought to justice,” CP Jimoh stated.

Akinwande is currently in custody under heavy security and is expected to be charged in court following the conclusion of investigations.
