The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has dismissed reports suggesting that it has increased its registration fees, describing the claim as false, misleading and entirely unfounded.

In a statement issued by the Board’s Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, JAMB clarified that the approved registration fees remain unchanged and have been in place since 2019.

According to the Board, the current fees are as follows: Direct Entry (DE) – ₦5,700; UTME only (without mock) – ₦7,200; and UTME with mock – ₦8,700.

The Board explained that the charges cover several components, including an application fee of ₦3,500, a reading text costing ₦1,000, CBT centre registration service charge of ₦700, CBT centre UTME service charge of ₦1,500, bank charges of ₦500, and a CBT mock-UTME centre charge of ₦1,500 where applicable.

JAMB further recalled that in 2018, the Federal Executive Council approved a reduction in the UTME application fee from ₦5,000 to ₦3,500, a policy that took effect from the 2019 registration exercise.

Since then, the Board has maintained the same fee structure despite increasing operational costs.

The Board therefore urged prospective candidates, parents and guardians to disregard the misleading publication and rely only on information released through JAMB’s official platforms and advertisements.

Candidates are also advised to carefully study the Board’s official registration advertisement to avoid being misled or exploited by unscrupulous individuals or centres.

JAMB added that any candidate who pays more than the approved fees should promptly report such centres with credible evidence to enable the Board investigate and take disciplinary action against those found guilty of overcharging or engaging in unethical practices.

The Board reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability and the protection of candidates’ interests at all times.
