An Iranian delegation is set to arrive in Islamabad as part of preparations for high-level negotiations with the United States, with Pakistan acting as mediator.
The discussions, which are expected to focus on the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, will reportedly be led on the American side by Vice President JD Vance. The talks are scheduled to take place over the weekend.
Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, confirmed that the delegation would arrive late Thursday. He noted that despite doubts stemming from repeated ceasefire breaches attributed to Israel, Iran is committed to engaging in “serious talks” based on a 10-point proposal.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, has welcomed the initiative, signaling Islamabad’s role in facilitating dialogue between the two long-time adversaries.
In anticipation of the high-profile diplomatic engagement, authorities in Islamabad have declared temporary public holidays, a move often linked to heightened security measures. However, essential services such as healthcare, law enforcement, and utilities will continue to operate, with residents advised to plan accordingly.
