Controversial Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has alleged that he is among those lidted for elimination by the U.S army. This is because he is perceived as a Boko Haram figure.
Gumi made this known in a video while addressing his congregation. The video which has gone viral was shared by an X user, #General_Somto.
The cleric stated that he a call early im the morning from an undisclosed who briefed him on the outcome of a national security meeting. He revealed that the caller told him that he is marked for assassination
His words,
“I received a call from a top official in Abuja informing me that I am among those marked by the US for elimination through an American airstrike, as part of Boko Haram. Northern leaders and clerics must speak up against these lies. “They claim to have come here to fight terrorists, but they are the actual terrorists”.
The claim comes after the United States army conducted air strikes against members of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) in Sokoto State on December 25, 2025.
