MINISTER of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has denied reports, claiming that he once said the Federal Government had been printing money since 2015.
He argued that he never headed any financial institution in Nigeria and could not be an authority on issues relating to printing money.
Ameachi warned against circulating false statements to gain cheap popularity, saying those who needed information about printing of money should approach the appropriate quarters.
He spoke in a statement signed by his Media Assistant, Taiye Elebiyo-Edeni, urging the public to disregard the report.
A report on social media had quoted Amaechi to have said that the Federal Government had been printing money since 2015.
He was said to have made the statement during an interview with journalists in the build up to the 2019 election.
Refuting the report, Amaechi stated, “I have never head any financial institution in the country and therefore did not qualify as an authority in the issues that concerns printing of money into the economy.
“I advise Nigerians who wants information on printing of money to find out from the appropriate agency and not circulate false statement to gain cheap publicity.”
