The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio has finally withdrawn the defamation suits he filled against Senator Natasha Akpoti and others. The feud between the two borders on allegations of sexual harassment by the latter.

Godswill Akpabio made this known in an online video immediately after the New Year service at Sacred Heart Parish in Uyo on January 1, 2026.
According to the Senate President, he had about nine defamation suits withdrawn in different courts. The defamation suits includes that of Senator Natasha Akpoti, who is representing Kogi Central Senatorial District.
His words,
“I had almost nine cases in court against some individuals who defamed me, who lied against me, who slandered my name. But I listened to the priest and suddenly realised he was talking to me, so I hereby direct my solicitor to withdraw all lawsuits against them.”
As expected his decision generated mixed reactions online. Read some comments below:
Hon Nuhu: It’s commendable to embrace reconciliation. Let this be a lesson that dialogue and humility achieve more than prolonged litigation.”
Jiddah Hakeem hailed Akpabio: “Finally, the truth prevails! Natasha and her lies tried to tarnish the name of Sen. Godswill Akpabio, but justice is on his side. Wise decision to withdraw suits only shows his grace; some people need to learn the cost of spreading falsehoods.”
