Falz Expresses Doubt About Raising Future Children in Nigeria
Popular rapper and activist Folarin Falana, professionally known as Falz, has revealed that he may not raise his future children in Nigeria, citing growing concerns over insecurity, political unrest, and threats related to his activism.
Falz made the statement during a recent episode of the Dear Ife Series podcast, hosted by media personality Ifedayo Agoro.
When asked if he would consider raising his children in Nigeria, the ‘This Is Nigeria’ rapper paused before responding:
“Ah! That’s a deep question. I didn’t expect to hear this question. I haven’t really thought that far, let me not lie,” Falz said.
“But it’s something that I can’t actually say ‘yes’ to because of what we are talking about — the insecurity in the country, threats due to my activism, and Nigerians’ docility. It’s something I cannot outrightly say ‘yes’ to. And it’s so sad. But I can’t also outrightly say ‘no’ because I’m pro-Nigerian, and I really believe that we can actually get it right. But I don’t know… let’s see.”
Known for using music and media as a tool for social commentary, Falz has long been vocal about issues plaguing the nation — from governance and human rights to systemic inequality. His activism, including public participation, has drawn both praise and criticism.
