The Federal high court sitting in Abuja has struck out an application for transfer filed by Nnamdi Kanu, leader of Indigenous People of Biafra. In the motion moved by his lawyer, Demdoo Asan, he pleaded for transfer from the Sokoto correctional facility.
While delivering judgement, Justice James Kolawole Omotosho struck out the motion exparte filed by his Lawyer. Also during proceeding today, Kanu’ lawyer Demdoo Asan, withdrew from the matter, due to irreconcilable issues.
According to Demdoo relatives of the applicant refused to show up at his office to depose to the application despite promises to show up.
He also added that the defendant, Kanu wanted him to take his case personal by asking to write what his lawyer would say in court.
His words,
“He wants to write down what I would say while in court. But, as an officer of the court, I can’t in good faith accept that”.
In lieu of this, Demdoo citing order 50, rule 1 of the Federal High Court Rule, withdrew from the case.
Justice Omotosho thus granted Demdoo leave to withdraw from representing defendant convict. He also struck out the motion ex-parte for lack of competence
