Actress Biola Adebayo Lauded for Role in Rescuing Jumoke George’s Daughter from Mali
Nollywood actress and humanitarian, Biola Adebayo, has received widespread praise for her pivotal role in the rescue and return of Adeola George, daughter of veteran actress Jumoke George, who had been stranded in Mali for over four years.
Adeola is expected to arrive in Nigeria on Monday after a harrowing period of absence and uncertainty. Her plight came to public attention during an emotional episode of Biola Adebayo’s podcast “Talk to B,” where Jumoke George revealed her daughter’s long disappearance and her own dire living conditions. According to George, she had been living in a church for over six years and had fallen ill earlier this year, all while caring for Adeola’s two children in her daughter’s prolonged absence.
Following the revelation, Adebayo took proactive steps to locate Adeola and managed to establish contact with her in Mali. Adeola confirmed she had been stuck in the West African country for the past four years.
Working swiftly, Adebayo reached out to the Nigerian Embassy in Mali as well as the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), led by Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa. Thanks to their intervention, final arrangements for Adeola’s return were concluded as of Friday.
Though initially scheduled to return on Sunday, her journey is being made by road, and she is now expected to arrive at any moment. Upon her arrival in Lagos, Adeola will be officially received by NiDCOM officials at the agency’s Lagos office.
NiDCOM has a track record of facilitating the safe return of stranded Nigerians across the globe, and Adeola’s case adds to the growing list of successful interventions.
Biola Adebayo’s commitment to using her platform for social good has once again been highlighted, drawing commendation from fans, fellow actors, and humanitarian circles alike.
