The All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected accusations by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) that it is meddling in the opposition party’s internal matters, insisting there is no basis for such claims.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, challenged the ADC to provide concrete evidence to support its allegations. He maintained that the ruling party has no reason to feel threatened, pointing to its electoral successes since 2023.
According to him, the ADC lacks the political strength to pose any serious challenge, describing it as a party with little or no impact on the political landscape.
Morka further argued that the ADC’s current troubles are self-inflicted, suggesting that internal mismanagement and poor decision-making have weakened the party. He accused its members of creating crises within their own ranks rather than addressing underlying issues.
He also downplayed the influence of prominent opposition figures such as Atiku Abubakar, Rotimi Amaechi, and Rauf Aregbesola, stating that their combined presence has not translated into meaningful political impact.
The APC spokesperson additionally criticised some politicians within the ADC for frequently switching parties instead of resolving internal conflicts, which he said contributes to instability within opposition groups.
These remarks come amid an ongoing leadership dispute within the ADC, with factions contesting control of the party. Recently, the Independent National Electoral Commission withdrew recognition of a leadership group headed by David Mark. The electoral body said its decision followed a court order directing it to maintain the status quo pending the outcome of a legal challenge over the party’s leadership.
