Davido Could Become Governor of Osun State – Ben Murray-Bruce Predicts
In a recent episode of his Common Sense series, former Bayelsa East Senator Ben Murray-Bruce predicted that Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, could one day become the Governor of Osun State.
Murray-Bruce made this assertion while discussing the growing intersection between entertainment and politics in Nigeria. Citing Davido’s political background and influence, he said the singer’s chances in politics are promising, particularly due to the strong political pedigree of the Adeleke family.
“Considering all of these, the thought that Davido himself could one day aspire to become the Governor of Osun State seems more like a potential trajectory,” he explained. “Especially if his political inclinations are nurtured and strategically channelled.”
He added that there is a rising sentiment in Nigeria encouraging entertainers to enter the political space, noting their unique ability to connect with diverse demographics.
“Davido, if you run, I predict you will win,” he declared.
Murray-Bruce also praised Davido’s global appeal and cultural significance, describing him as one of Nigeria’s most valuable cultural exports. However, he revealed a lesser-known aspect of the singer’s identity.
“David Adeleke, the global phenomenon better known as Davido, is undeniably an international artist and a true Nigerian superstar,” he said. “But beneath the surface of this music icon lies a side that many may not be aware of. He is, by his own admission, a political animal with deeply held views and a clear-cut political ideology.”
The former senator noted that this political leaning is unsurprising, given Davido’s family history. His uncle, Senator Ademola Adeleke, is the current Governor of Osun State, while another uncle, Isiaka Adeleke, served as Governor of the state during the Ibrahim Babangida military administration.
