Anambra Steps into a New Era: President Tinubu Commissions Government House and Landmark Fun City
After more than three decades of anticipation, Anambra State has taken a bold step into the future with the official commissioning of its permanent Government House and the unveiling of the Solution Fun City in Awka. The historic event, which took place at the vast 23-hectare Government House complex, was graced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, members of the State Executive Council, and other dignitaries.
Describing the new Government House as a “mini city,” Governor Soludo detailed the scope of the development—34 architecturally integrated buildings that include the Governor’s and Deputy Governor’s Lodges, Judges’ Quarters, and administrative facilities. Designed to blend seamlessly with the natural environment, the complex reflects Anambra’s cultural identity while setting a modern standard for governance infrastructure.
This milestone is particularly significant for Anambra, which had operated without a permanent seat of government since its creation in 1991. The completion of the complex marks the end of a 34-year void and is seen as a catalyst for more effective and centralized governance.
Adjacent to the Government House, the newly inaugurated Solution Fun City adds a vibrant recreational dimension to the capital. Once fully operational, it is expected to become the largest amusement park in West Africa. Among its features are a towering 38-meter Ferris wheel, three Olympic-sized swimming pools, a pirate ship inspired by Disneyland Paris, and a wide array of indoor and outdoor attractions.
Governor Soludo emphasized the economic impact of the park, projecting over 5,000 direct jobs and more than 10,000 indirect employment opportunities. The facility is expected to drive tourism, stimulate local enterprise, and rebrand Awka as a hub for leisure and family entertainment in the region.
President Tinubu lauded Governor Soludo for his foresight and dedication, calling the projects a clear demonstration of what visionary leadership can achieve. He noted that the new infrastructure not only raises the bar for governance and tourism but also reinforces Anambra’s potential as a key driver of economic growth in Nigeria.
As these landmark projects come to life, they underscore Governor Soludo’s broader agenda—focused on infrastructure, job creation, and sustainable development. Anambra is not just building structures; it’s laying the foundation for a brighter, more dynamic future for its people.
