Jaywon recently highlighted that superstars like Davido, Wizkid, and Burna Boy are often targets of trolling on social media. He stressed that any artist unwilling to face criticism won’t thrive in the industry. The Afrobeats singer suggested that one of the key ways celebrities can cope with online trolls is by developing a thick skin, emphasizing that the Nigerian music industry is not for the faint-hearted.
On his X handle on Sunday, Jaywon shared, “Some of my colleagues reach out to ask how I handle the constant ranting and disrespect online. My response is always the same: today’s industry is not for the weak. Just take a look at the level of disrespect aimed at artists like Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy, and many others. If you’re not prepared, you won’t last. They will always come for you, and the only real escape is to go offline—but we can’t do that. This is our life, our craft, and no matter what, we’ll keep pushing forward.”
He also urged fellow artists not to leave social media because of trolls but to remain active in order to promote their work.
