Controversial social commentator and activist, VeryDarkMan, has finally broken his silence after days of absence from social media, revealing he has been mentally overwhelmed by the recurring violence involving herdsmen and farmers in Nigeria.

In an emotional post shared on Sunday, VeryDarkMan admitted that the recent spate of killings has deeply affected him, leaving him sleepless and consumed by anxiety.

“I really wish everyone could understand,” he wrote. “I haven’t been able to post in the last few hours because my mind is still messed up. The killings involving the herdsmen and farmers are too much. Believe me, for the past five days, I haven’t been able to sleep. I’ve been asking questions and doing research to understand the root of the problem, and it’s been stressing me out.”

Earlier that day, his brother, Mark Otse, raised alarm over his condition and appealed to Nigerians to keep VeryDarkMan in their prayers.

In a video shared on Instagram, Mark said: “Good morning everyone, I am not here to say much. All I want you to do is to pray for VeryDarkMan. He has not posted for two days now. You all have been asking questions like ‘where is VeryDarkMan?’ The truth is I don’t know how to say this right now. This is so difficult, for real.”

Mark’s plea sparked concern among fans and followers, many of whom began to question the activist’s whereabouts and well-being.

When he finally addressed the issue, VeryDarkMan provided deeper insight into the toll the violence has taken on him, pointing to the historical context of such attacks.

“Benue killings didn’t start today. Jos, Plateau killings didn’t start today. It goes back 10 to 15 years — same style, same format, and same reaction. Protest, security chiefs visiting victims and affected areas… everything is the same,” he said.

“The question is not when does it stop, the question is how does it stop? What has the government been getting wrong? A lot of gains and a lot of losses. My mind is messed up in thoughts I can’t even explain,” he added.

Despite his troubled state of mind, he signed off his message on a hopeful note:

“Anyways, let me not ruin your Sunday with my worries. Happy Sunday, my people.”
