E247 reports: Nigerian fashion designer and celebrity stylist, Veekee James, has broken her silence on the controversy surrounding her marriage, admitting that a rumour claiming she snatched her husband, Femi Atere, from a friend nearly pushed her into depression.
Speaking on The Nancy Isime Show, Veekee revealed how the allegation spread across social media and left her emotionally drained. According to her, the claim was not only false but also deeply hurtful.
“It almost put me into depression. I didn’t even know what depression was until then. I stayed in my room for two days, crying and praying.”
The award-winning designer, who has dressed some of Nigeria’s biggest celebrities, explained that it was her faith that kept her going. “It was only God who lifted me out of that moment,” she added.
Now, Veekee says she has developed the strength to handle negativity from the public. “I have grown a thick skin. What people say no longer gets to me like before,” she stated, according to the report.
Her husband, Femi Atere, also spoke on the show, describing himself as a private person who is unfazed by online criticism. “I can tell you for a fact, I’m a BTS person. You might see my wife all out because that’s who she is, that’s the type of person she is. So I am just the reserved part and I’m always behind her,” he explained.
“So whatever anybody says online doesn’t really bother me. That’s just the honest truth.”
The couple, who tied the knot on February 10, 2024, in Lagos, celebrated their glamorous wedding in the presence of Nollywood stars, fashion icons, and music celebrities. Their love story continues to attract attention.
