Speaking during an interview with actress Biola Bayo on the Talk to B podcast, Adeola shared the chilling details of how she was deceived by someone who promised her a better life abroad.

She disclosed that she was trafficked for N250,000 under the pretense of securing a job at a pharmacy in Mali. Unaware of the true nature of the offer, Adeola agreed to travel without informing anyone. Her journey took her through several West African countries — including Cotonou, Togo, and Ghana — before she arrived in Bamako, Mali.

“I met someone who introduced the idea of traveling to Mali to me. She lied about a pharmacy job,” Adeola recounted. “When I arrived and contacted the woman I was referred to, she told me she had bought me from my sister for N250,000 and that I was there to work off 1.5 million CFA through prostitution.”

Adeola said she was held in a brothel but eventually found a way to escape after securing work with a food vendor. Her rescue came a few days ago, thanks to the efforts of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM).

Her story sheds light on the dangers of human trafficking and the exploitation of vulnerable women lured by promises of better opportunities abroad.
