As part of a broader reform initiative within key state institutions, Abba Yusuf has approved changes to the leadership of Kano State Polytechnic’s Governing Council.

The governor removed Engr. Buba Galadima from his role as Chairman of the Council before the expiration of his three-year tenure, citing the need to strengthen ongoing restructuring efforts in the institution.

The decision was announced on Saturday in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Dawakin Tofa, who explained that the move forms part of the administration’s commitment to repositioning the polytechnic in line with its “Kano First Agenda.”

According to the statement, the reforms are intended to enhance academic standards, administrative efficiency, and overall institutional performance. The early termination of the former chairman’s appointment was described as necessary to accelerate these objectives.

In his place, the governor appointed the Emir of Gaya, Alhaji Dr. Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir, as the new Chairman of the Governing Council. The administration expressed confidence that the monarch’s leadership experience would help drive the transformation process.

While announcing the change, Governor Yusuf acknowledged Galadima’s contributions to the institution and wished him success in his future pursuits.

The appointment of the Emir is seen as part of a wider strategy to inject seasoned leadership into state-owned institutions as the government intensifies reforms across the education sector.
