FirstBank Denies Fraud Allegations in Ongoing Court Case

Lagos, Nigeria – FirstBank has responded to recent claims made by Dr. Agbai Eke, who filed a court case against the bank alleging fraud. The bank categorically denies the allegations, stating that the accusations are completely unfounded and false.

In a statement released in response to reports by Thisday Newspaper, Arise Television, and a circulating video, FirstBank clarified that its internal investigations suggest the issues stemmed from unprofessional and unethical conduct between Dr. Eke and a former employee of the bank. According to the bank, personal relationships were exploited to facilitate unauthorized transactions without the bank’s knowledge or approval.

“While the matter is currently before the Court, we respect the judicial process and will refrain from further comments to allow for a fair and impartial ruling,” the statement read. FirstBank also confirmed that it had reported the case to law enforcement agencies for a thorough investigation. The individuals involved have reportedly provided useful statements as the investigation continues.

The bank reiterated its commitment to upholding transparency, accountability, and the highest standards of integrity, assuring stakeholders that it remains dedicated to safeguarding its customers’ interests.

As the legal proceedings unfold, FirstBank remains confident that the truth will emerge, clearing any doubts surrounding the allegations.
