The specifics of Jandor’s meeting with President Tinubu remain unclear, but sources within Aso Rock suggest it was a strategic move aimed at repairing ties, possibly paving the way for his return to the APC or forming an alliance ahead of the 2027 general election. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, who was the governorship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State during the 2023 general election, met with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday. He later held talks with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and senior officials from the Social Democratic Party (SDP), sparking further speculation about his next political move.
Jandor was once a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) before defecting to the PDP to contest for the Lagos governorship seat. The meeting, which was not publicly announced, is reported to have taken place between 2 pm and 4 pm.
Having recently resigned from the PDP, citing “indiscipline and anti-party activities” within the party, Jandor has yet to disclose his next steps. In his resignation letter, he expressed disappointment in the party’s leadership, stating, “I am here today with a clear conscience and without a heavy heart. We have committed ourselves to the ideals of democracy, good governance, and the pursuit of a better Lagos. It has become clear that the leadership of the PDP, both nationally and at the state level, has failed to uphold these principles.” Jandor further stated, “We will consult widely with stakeholders before making a decision on collapsing our structure into another platform. The important thing now is that we have left the PDP.”
