E247 mag reports: Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has declared that his political journey will not end with the speakership, sparking fresh speculation about his governorship ambition. The powerful lawmaker, who has presided over the Assembly since 2015, made the revelation in an interview with Television Continental on Thursday, where he admitted that advancing to higher office remains very much on the table.
Obasa explained that years ago he mentioned his desire to either become a senator or governor, but insisted that such ambitions can only materialize within the framework of his party’s decisions. According to him, political aspirations are not pursued in isolation but through consultation and direction of party leaders who determine the future of loyal members. The Speaker, however, dismissed the idea of seeking another term as the head of the Lagos Assembly, making it clear that his eyes are already set on greater opportunities.
With Obasa’s strong grassroots base, deep party loyalty and influence built over years in the legislature, many believe his governorship ambition.
