Kizz Daniel Reclaims Rights to Debut Album and Hit Singles
Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Daniel Anidugbe, popularly known as Kizz Daniel, has reclaimed the masters to his debut album New Era, marking a significant victory in his music career.
The artist made the announcement via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Monday, revealing that he has also secured the rights to two of his early hit singles, Yeba and Sofa.
“From long nights in the studio to several meditations, finally, I now own every song on the New Era album (2016) + Yeba & Sofa (singles). I got my masters back. This means more than words can explain. Thank you for riding with me,” the singer posted.
New Era, originally released on May 14, 2016, under Kizz Daniel’s former label G-Worldwide, was a career-defining project that catapulted him to fame. However, after parting ways with the label in November 2017, the artist faced legal battles with his former boss, Emperor Geezy, over contract disputes. He was later acquitted of all charges and went on to establish his own imprint, Flyboy I.N.C.
In a surprising twist in 2023, Kizz Daniel appointed Emperor Geezy as the Chief Executive Officer of Flyboy I.N.C., a move that signaled a possible reconciliation between the two former adversaries.
With the retrieval of his masters, Kizz Daniel now gains full control over the creative and commercial use of his early works—an achievement he describes as deeply personal and emotionally significant.
