Asari Dokubo, Arewa Youths Warn Anti-Tinubu Forces Against Disrupting Inauguration
Niger Delta activist, Asari Dokubo and the leader of the Arewa Youth Council, Shettima Yerima have warned those attempting to disrupt the swearing-in ceremony of President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu would face consequences for their actions.
Dokubo, particularly, expressed his belief that the remarkable changes witnessed in Lagos State under the leadership of Tinubu as governor will be replicated across Nigeria after his anticipated inauguration as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on May 29th.
Addressing journalists yesterday in Abuja, Asari, according to the Leadership Newspaper, lauded Tinubu’s contributions to the struggle, highlighting the sacrifices he had made that set him apart from many others.
He confidently proclaimed, “Nigeria has changed, change has come. On the 29th of May, change will come, and it will be a permanent change. The transformation that has occurred in Lagos will be replicated.”
Asari Dokubo further emphasised the accomplishments of Tinubu and challenged individuals to compare the states that former governors, who are now running against Tinubu, had governed.
He asserted that Lagos, Kano, Anambra, and other states led by Tinubu’s competitors did not witness the same level of progress and development.
According to Asari, “You can only move from the known to the unknown, but you can’t move from the unknown to the known.”
Regarding the upcoming inauguration, Asari warned those attempting to disrupt the swearing-in ceremony that they would face consequences for their actions.
He reminded them that violence was not monopolised by any particular group and urged those discontented with the election result to seek legal recourse rather than resorting to disruptive means.
He concluded by stating that May 29th should serve as a warning to those who may contemplate undermining the democratic process.
In response to the developments, the national coordinator of the Coalition of Pro-Democracy Groups for a Better Nigeria, Comrade Awa Bamiji, congratulated Nigerians for the restoration of hope after 30 years of disappointment.
He expressed the coalition’s joy in celebrating the 30th anniversary of June 12, a significant date in Nigeria’s history, known as “Renewed Hope” or “Hope 93.”
Similarly, the leader of the Arewa Youth Council, Shettima Yerima, reiterated his group’s unwavering support for Tinubu. He commended Tinubu’s consistent dedication to the cause since the dark days of military rule, acknowledging their collaboration during challenging times.
As the nation eagerly awaits the inauguration, the sentiments expressed by Asari Dokubo and other notable figures reflect the anticipation and hope for a promising future under Tinubu’s leadership.
