APC National Secretary Cautions Members Against Joining Aregbesola’s Caucus in Osun State
The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ajibola Basiru, has issued a cautionary statement to party members regarding the newly inaugurated caucus in Osun State by former Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola. Basiru emphasized that the party’s constitution does not recognize the establishment of a caucus as an official organ or structure of the APC.
Speaking to reporters in Abuja, Basiru reiterated that while there is freedom of association as guaranteed by the Nigerian constitution, the APC does not acknowledge the caucus introduced by Aregbesola. He labeled the caucus as a “political club of his fancy” that lacks a legitimate foundation within the structure and organization of the party.
“The APC constitution does not recognize caucus as an organ or structure of the party,” Basiru stated firmly. “Genuine APC members should be wary of the antics of those people whom we cannot identify as still members of our party.”
The statement by the APC National Secretary highlights the party’s stance on the matter and underscores its commitment to maintaining a cohesive and structured organization. The caution is meant to prevent any confusion or division within the party, ensuring that members adhere to recognized structures and processes.
Aregbesola’s decision to form the caucus has ignited debates within the party’s ranks, prompting discussions about the role and legitimacy of such entities within the APC’s framework.
