LAGOS State Ministry of Justice has said its Directorate of Public Prosecution has established a prima facie case of child sexual offences against popular Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju James, aka Baba Ijesha.
Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice in the state, Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN), said Baba Ijesha would face a five-count charge.
The five-count charge borders on indecent treatment of a child, defilement of a child, attempted sexual assault by penetration, attempted sexual assault by penetration, and sexual assault.
Under sections 135, 137, 261, 262 and 263 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, defilement and sexual assault by penetration carry life imprisonment while the three other counts attract seven, three and 14 years imprisonment, respectively,
Onigbanjo noted that the Police forwarded the case file of ‘COP v Olanrewaju James’ to the DPP for legal advice on April 30, 2021.
