In a bold move to redefine Abuja’s skyline, the Federal Capital Territory Administration has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with MAG International Links Ltd to replicate Dubai’s renowned City Walk in Nigeria’s capital. FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, who supervised the signing, revealed that the 200-hectare project will feature a blend of residential, commercial, retail, hospitality, and healthcare facilities.

Wike emphasized the administration’s commitment to ensuring accountability, warning that land titles would be revoked if developers failed to meet agreed timelines and standards. He recalled past abuses where lands meant for mass housing were turned into commodities by speculators, stressing that the new approach prioritizes timely and meaningful development.

The Abuja City Walk is to be built in the long-neglected area originally marked for the Abuja Technology Village along Airport Road. Wike lamented that despite 20 years of allocation, no significant development had occurred in the area, blaming land grabbers and inactive investors for the stagnation.

Highlighting the project’s importance, Wike said the foundation laying is slated for between July and August, with the first phase scheduled for delivery in May 2026 to mark President Bola Tinubu’s third anniversary in office. He added that the project aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to attract investors and create employment across sectors.

Assuring government support, Wike said all legal approvals have been secured and key FCT officials—Development Control, Land Administration, and the Federal Capital Development Authority—have been mobilized to ensure a smooth takeoff of the project, including the provision of access roads to the site.

Dr. Kassim Gidado, Executive Director of MAG International Links Ltd, described the initiative as a transformative step for Nigeria’s real estate landscape. He stated that City Walk Abuja will not just mirror Dubai’s version but surpass it, integrating local culture and aesthetics to fit the Nigerian context.

According to him, the development is a statement of elegance and sustainability that will reshape the Lugbe axis and reinforce investor confidence in the FCT’s economic potential.
