Pascal Gabriel Dozie, a distinguished Nigerian entrepreneur and business leader, has passed away at the age of 86. According to sources close to the family, he died after a prolonged battle with age-related illnesses.
Born on April 9, 1939, in Egbu, Owerri, Imo State, Nigeria, Dozie’s educational journey saw him earn a degree in Economics from the prestigious London School of Economics, followed by a master’s in Administrative Science from City University in London.

Dozie was a man of many accomplishments, best known for founding Diamond Bank and later serving as chairman of Pan-Atlantic University. He also co-founded the African Capital Alliance and Kunoch Limited, alongside establishing the African Development Consulting Group, which worked with major clients like Nestle and Pfizer.
In addition to his entrepreneurial achievements, Dozie served as the chairman of MTN Group, a position he later resigned from, passing the baton to Ernest Ndukwe. His contributions to Nigeria’s banking industry earned him the National Award of the Order of the Niger (OON).
He leaves behind his wife, Chinyere Dozie, their five children, and a host of other relatives.
Pascal Dozie’s legacy, marked by his pioneering spirit and dedication to Nigeria’s economic development, will not be forgotten.
