Workers Jubilate as NLC President, Ajaero Returns To Labour House

President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero, returned to the warm embrace of workers at the Labour House on Thursday afternoon after honouring the invitation of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

Labour leaders and workers in their hundreds had gathered at the NLC headquarters located in the Central Business District of the nation’s capital awaiting further instructions following Comrade Ajaero’s visit to the Police.

The NLC President had reported at the Intelligence Response Team (IRT), located within the disbanded SARS facility in Guzape District of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Thursday morning.

He was accompanied by human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), civil rights activist, Deji Adeyanju, and other Labour leaders and friends of the Congress.

His invitation to the IRT headquarters followed allegations of terrorism financing, subversion, and cybercrime amidst the #EndBadGovernance protests held between August 1 and 10, 2024.

Workers Hold Solidarity Procession

Meanwhile, before Comrade Ajaero’s heroic return to the Labour House, members of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), in their thousands, were holding solidarity procession in his support.

On the spot visit to the Congress headquarters had revealed that the members of the labour movement were already planning to march on IRT Guzape office before news broke about the President’s release by the Police authorities.

Ahead of visiting the Police, the labour leaders had mobilised the union members and affiliate associations across the country to be on alert for any eventuality .
