Women affairs ministry moves to enhance healthcare services, partners national hospital

 

The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs has expressed its desire to partner National Hospital Abuja with a view to enhancing healthcare services in the country through the facilitation and acquisition of free medical equipment for it.

 

The Honourable Minister, Barrister (Mrs) Kennedy-Ohanenye stated this today in her office in Abuja when the Management of the National Hospital, Abuja, led by its Chief Medical Director, Prof. Muhammad Mahmud paid her a courtesy visit

 

She informed that the collaboration aligns with the Ministry’s mandate, which is to promote the well-being of women and the vulnerable groups in the society, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the present Administration

 

Through this collaboration, Kennedy-Ohanenye said,

the Ministry will link the Hospital to a Conglomerate that will provide it with free medical equipment, thus contributing to quality health care services in the nation

 

The Minister commended the Management and Staff of the hospital for their commitment to the well-being of patients as exhibited in the love and attention put into the treatment of those under their care to ensure quick recovery

 

“By supporting the National Hospital, we aim to contribute to the improvement of healthcare delivery services in Nigeria. Your show of love to patients under your care. The willingness of doctors, nurses, and staff to donate their blood, cash to those in need is worthy of commendation,” she said

 

While reiterating the Ministry’s commitment to the upliftment of the plight of the vulnerable, especially women and children in line with the policy thrust of government, Kennedy-Ohanenye charged the hospital management to work out modalities that will ensure the maintenance of the equipments when delivered so as to enable the Nation benefit optimally from the gesture

 

Earlier, the Chief Medical Director, Prof Muhammad Mahmud, expressed the Hospital’s willingness to collaborate with the Ministry for the acquisition and provision of medical equipment in order to boost health care services to the citizenry

 

He commended the Honourable Minister, Barrister (Mrs) Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, the Management and Staff of the Ministry for their avowed commitment to the realization of the Ministry’s mandate

 

Prof Mahmud assured that the hospital, which will be marking its 25th anniversary on September 1, will continue to provide quality health care services to all Nigerians and foreigners alike.
