The Edo State Government has said viral pictures of a poorly executed road project linking Uokha and Ohami in Owan East Local Government Area (LGA) of the state, which according to reports washed off two months after completion, is a project of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Chief of Staff to the Edo State Governor, Osaigbovo Iyoha, in a statement, said the project does not represent the standard of roads constructed by the Edo State Government, reassuring the government’s commitment to quality and durable infrastructure.

According to him, “The attention of the Edo State Government has been drawn to viral online pictures showing shoddy job on a road project linking Uokha and Ohami in Owan East Local Government Area of Edo State, which according to reports, washed off two months after completion.

“The poorly executed project, titled ‘construction of 4.0km Asphaltic Road at Uokha to Ohami,’ as clearly stated in the signpost at the construction site, is a project of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and executed by Messr. Hunslow International Limited.

“The shoddy and substandard job does not represent the standard of projects in Owan East or any part of Edo State under the leadership of Governor Godwin Obaseki.

“The government has embarked on the construction of over 1500 durable road projects across the 192 wards in the 18 LGAs of the state, with each of these roads either completed or in various stages of completion. Our contractors have kept to quality and standards in each of the projects, making sure that residents get value for money spent on every project by the state government.”

“We shall sustain efforts at opening up new towns and enhancing access to rural areas so as to improve the living standards of our people and boost economic activities in the state,” Iyoha reassured.
