Police raid criminals enclave, arrest 6 in Akwa Ibom

 

Six suspected cultists and drug dealers were nabbed when operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command raided a criminal hideout at the Afaha Offiong community in Nsit Ibom Local Government Area of the state.

 

This was contained in a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer,  ASP Timfon John, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Monday.

 

The PPRO disclosed that two bags of substances suspected to be Indian hemp, substances suspected to be cocaine and some Cocktail concoctions were recovered during the raid

 

She listed the names of the suspected drug dealers to include: Kufre Godwin Okon, Uko Monday Edet, Cyril Michael, Gabriel Effiong, Joseph Effiong Okon, Udofia Emmanuel Udofia.

 

“The Akwa Ibom State Police Command, in its sustained efforts towards making the state safe, secure and uncomfortable for criminals, has raided a criminal hideout in Afaha Offiong community in Nsit Ibom Local Government Area.

 

“The raid was carried out by the command’s operatives who acted following directives of the Commissioner of Police, Waheed Ayilara, upon intelligence report available at its disposal about the nefarious activities in a section of the community.

 

“Upon mobilisation of operatives to the community, the efforts yielded quick results leading to the arrest of six male persons suspected to be cultists and drug dealers, namely Kufre Godwin Okon, Uko Monday Edet, Cyril Michael, Gabriel Effiong, Joseph Effiong Okon, and Udofia Emmanuel Udofia.

 

“Operatives also recovered two bags of substances suspected to be Indian hemp, substances suspected to be cocaine and some Cocktail concoctions.

 

“An investigation is ongoing as efforts are in place to arrest fleeing members of the syndicate” the statement added.

 

While reassuring the people of Akwa Ibom of the command’s unwavering commitment to rid the state of criminal elements, the CP urged them to always report any suspicious movement or person to the nearest police station as this would help the police act on the information towards keeping the state safe and secure.
