NIGERIAN POLICE OFFICER FINDS AND RETURNS $800 TO OWNER

A Police Constable, Nura Mande, has returned the $800 he found while on special duty at the Hajj camp, Katsina, to its owner, Hajiya Hadiza Chamiya.

Chamiya, 65, is one of intending pilgrims from the state for this year’s Hajj in Saudi Arabia.

The spokesman for the Katsina Police Command, Gambo Isah, said the police Constable found the money at about 12.30am on Thursday, June 23, 2022, within the premises of the Hajj camp.

Isah said, “The honest, hardworking and dedicated police officer found and returned the $800, equivalent (to about N330,000) to the owner, one Hajiya Hadiza Usman Chamiya, 65, of Kusada Local Government Area, Katsina State.”

The police spokesman revealed that the state Commissioner of Police, Idris Dauda, had already presented the police Constable with a letter of commendation for his integrity.

“The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Idrisu Dabban Dauda, psc+, fdc, commended and awarded the officer a letter of commendation for such an outstanding display of honesty, integrity, patriotism worthy of emulation,” Isah added.

Meanwhile, the State Transport Authority had already given the constable a cash gift of N30,000.00 for “his display of honesty and integrity.”
