Former governor of Gombe State, Dr. Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, on Friday, bagged the Honorary degree of Doctor of Science ( Honoris Causa) at the 13th convocation of the Bells University of Technology, Ota, Ogun State.

The former governor had earlier been installed as the third Chancellor of the University at the convocation witnessed by the pioneer Vice-Chancellor and former Executive Secretary, National Universities Commission (NUC), Professor Julius Okojie, former governor Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha and a retinue of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Gombe State.

Dr Dankwambo commended the proprietor, former President Olusegun Obasanjo for finding him worthy as the third Chancellor of the Institution.

Dankwambo promised to do everything possible within his means to make meaningful contributions and meet his responsibilities as the chancellor.

He congratulated the stakeholders, the proud parents and guardians for making worthy investments for an assured future for their wards.

Dankwambo advised the graduating students to uphold these virtues and remain, worthy ambassadors of the university, wherever they find themselves.

In the Convocation Lecture titled: “Making Science a Paradigm for Development: The Perspective of Science Diplomacy”, Prof. Eghosa Osaghae, Director-General, Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) said a nation that refused to embrace science would lag and be dependent on others.

The highlight of the ceremony was the award of first degrees to 193 graduates in the direct entry programmes that produced 18 first-class, 75 with second class upper, 94 with second class lower and 6 with third class degrees.
