The management of the Kwara State Polytechnic (Kwarapoly), Ilorin, has expelled four students of the institution over alleged impersonation and examination malpractices.

The institution also rusticated six other students for a session on similar grounds.

Kolawole Akande, the polytechnic’s registrar, broke the news in a statement issued through Ismail Onikoko, his aide, on Wednesday.

According to the registrar, the expelled students include Salami Olalekan, Agbabiaka Fausat, Ndanusa Shaaba, and Adelodun Yusuf.

Akande said those rusticated are Alabi Damilare, Abdullateef Ismail, Abdullateef Damola, Shodiq Ayinde, Okesanjo Koyinsola and Yakub Opeyemi.

He added that the decision was taken during the meeting of the institution’s academic board held on October 7.

“The academic board at its regular meeting on Thursday, October 7, 2021,considered the report of the joint committee that handled the 2020/2021 First Semester examination malpractice cases in respect of the Institute of Technology,” it read.

“In the said report, you were found guilty of impersonation in contravention of Section 14.2 Part 1 Item XIII of the Reviewed Students Information and Regulations Handbook (2019).

“Consequently, the academic board upheld the recommendation of the joint committee to rusticate you for one session in line with the provision of Section 14.2 Part 1 Item XIII of the Student Handbook.”

The registrar enjoined the affected students to comply with the directive to avoid litigation.
