Gov. Hope Uzodimma flag-off enrollment into Basic Healthcare Provision Fund (BHCPF)

Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma has flagged off the enrollment of vulnerable persons into the basic healthcare provision fund(BHCPF) scheme earlier today in Owerri.

Speaking at the event, Gov. Hope Uzodimma expressed his delight over the innovative health care scheme that is aimed at the vulnerable persons in the state.

He also appreciated the collaboration of the Federal Government and the state in actualizing this milestone.

He said “The BHCPF has heralded a brand new chapter in the history of healthcare in the country, as it offers a refreshing assurance that all our people can have access to quality healthcare delivery irrespective of their status in life. We must applaud the federal and state governments for collaborating to initiate this noble vision”

Gov. Uzodimma said that his administration was well concerned with the vulnerable groups in the society and would not in addressing their concerns.

He therefore announced the beneficiaries of the free treatment under the scheme to be;
i. Persons under 5 years of age.
ii. Pregnant Women.
iii. Persons over 65years of age.

The free healthcare package will be accessible through the 305 Primary healthcare centers in all the INEC wards in the state as it will serve as a platform where all vulnerable persons can easily gain access to the free medical treatment.

Gov. Hope Uzodimma however warned those whose intentions are to tamper with the funds to have a rethink as the government will mercilessly deal with them in line with the provisions of law if found guilty of profiting from money meant for the vulnerable persons in the state while urging those affected to turn out in mass.

The enrollment into the scheme which was kickstarted with Owerri Municipal Council Area is expected to run through the remaining 26 LGAs in the state in the coming days. Enrollment into the scheme is free while treatment is only reserved for the vulnerable persons.
