My real name is Ayobami Olugbenga-Wyse, though the surname is an adopted compound surname of a combination of my father’s first name “Olugbenga” and a nick name that my father and friends regularly tagged me by “The Wise Man” due to what they claimed was my depth of perspective on issues about life and how I advised them by.

I once got a call from a guy who said he went to his mother-in-law’s house to be to meet her for introduction and the woman told him to his face that the only way she could accept their union is if the guy first got intimate with her. It sounded like a sarcastic statement made by the woman, but however you see it, it was just so crazy to conceive it.

How was growing up like for you, and which schools did you attend?

Growing up was fun and normal; It wasn’t special but one I wish I could live out again. I attended Lantana Pry School Gbagada, Maryland Comprehensive High School for a year before the completion of my secondary school education at Command Day Sec School Ikeja. I am also a graduate of Mathematics from the University of Lagos Akoka.

Ask me this same question some months away from now and I promise to give you an answer *winks*

What do you do to unwind?

I take a drive, or listen to music. Sometimes, I play my Playstation game or go swimming.

What can you never be caught wearing?

Pencil pants, or jeans? No way! Anything else can work for me depending on my mood and the occasion.

What’s your favourite food, drink, song, movie, perfume, and book?

I still have a tussle between Pounded Yam and Dodo though but maybe Pounded Yam will prevail any day anytime. As for drinks, I love flavoured water over anything and if not that, may be Irish Cream or Red wine. I love to smell good and so far, the CK and Peri-Elis brands catch my fancy heavily. The Holy Bible will have to be my favourite book any day.

Words of advice to aspiring OAPs…

Get equipped and properly trained for whatever drives your passion. Pick your role model wisely; give attention daily to what you love to do. Believe in yourself always and always know that there is still a slot called “better” that you need to always strive to get to. Above all, don’t lose sight of the next level and remember that it always pays to be Wyse!!!
