Wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, on Wednesday, visited the 82 Chibok girls that were released by the Boko Haram sect.
A statement by her Special Assistant on Media, Adebisi Olumide-Ajayi, said the President’s wife visited the girls at a location in Abuja.
She was accompanied by wife of the Acting President, Dolapo Osinbajo, wives of the governors of Zamfara State, Asmau Yari, Kogi State, Rashidat Bello; Bauchi State, Hadiza Abubakar, Nasarawa State, Mairo Al-Makura, and Sokoto State, Mairo Tambuwal.
Aisha Buhari urged the girls to be strong and to try and forget their ordeal so that they could continue their education.
“She said the strong prayers of the nation had kept them going and believed that the remaining girls still in captivity would soon be released.
“She further advised the girls that apart from their education, they should also learn a trade in order to empower themselves,” the statement read.
The President’s wife informed the girls about the efforts that had been put into negotiating their release under the direction of the President and praised all the agencies and individuals involved.
